Invoicing glossary

Discount

A discount is a reduction applied to an invoice, either as a percentage or a fixed amount off the subtotal.

Discount: a clear definition

Discounts are used for early payment, loyalty, bulk work, or negotiated rates. On an invoice the discount is shown as its own line so the client sees both the original amount and the saving. Tax is usually calculated after the discount is applied.
